Tycho Brahe Doppelmayr Poster - 13”x15”
Tycho Brahe Doppelmayr Poster - 13”x15”
Beautiful super high resolution (14238 × 12120) 13”x15” print of Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr’s Motus Planetarum Superiorum chart, showing the paths of Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn from 1712 to 1713 following Tycho Brahe’s model of cosmos.
In the late 1500s, the Astronomer Tycho Brahe spent over 20 years collecting the largest and most accurate astronomical dataset captured to date. As Tycho lay dying in 1601, he begged his assistant Johannes Kepler to not let him die in vain. Tycho believed that the motions of mars and the the other planets were a result of his own model of the solar system, where the sun orbits around the stationary earth, and the planet orbits the sun - but he had run out of time to prove it.
Kepler famously first computed and showed these loopey paths in Astronomia Nova, where he used the wildness of these trajectories to effectively argue against the Ptolemaic and Tychonian models. Printed on high quality semigloss photo paper, fits nicely into a standard 13”x15” frame (example) - frame not included.
